Albany History Walk

  • 1128 Masonic Ave. Albany, CA United States (map)

Come learn about the city of Albany. El Cerrito’s neighbor has a rich history, from its colorful incorporation story, to University Village, to old train systems and local architecture (some of which overlaps with El Cerrito). Local historian and author Karen Sorensen will share information from her two Albany history books, along with vintage photos, while walking the streets of the city.

The walk will be just over two miles—mostly on flat city streets—and will last about two hours, winding through neighborhoods and crossing some busy, large boulevards (at crosswalks).

Meet at Masonic Ave. where it crosses Codornices Creek (street parking is typically available here along Masonic next to the BART tracks). For mapping purposes, use the following address: 1128 Masonic Ave., Albany. Space is limited so please RSVP to storiesfromalbany@gmail.com to secure your spot.
